When you’re new to manifestation, these mistakes often tend to arise, whether out of fear, doubt, or subconscious beliefs you may hold about creating the life you desire.
You’re already taking an important first step in improving your ability to manifest, which is becoming aware of these 4 common mistakes:
1. Not thinking, speaking, and journaling in the proper tense
When it comes to manifestation, it’s easy to quickly get swept away in the excitement of thinking about everything you’d like to have. Your mind may quickly start creating a list of “I wants”, and you may even start to journal and speak about all these things you want as well.
However, framing what you desire in the “want” mindset will continue to keep you wanting – and won’t actually bring what you desire to you.
This is because of the Law of Attraction. If you’re constantly in the mindset of wanting a new car, the Law of Attraction will continue to bring you thoughts, ideas, and feelings that will keep you in that state of wanting.
Instead, practice thinking and acting as if you already have what you desire. Speak, think, and write in the present tense, as if you already have exactly what you want. For example, you may journal about how you’re so grateful to have your new car, and describe all of its features and how it feels to drive it.
Your thoughts create your reality, so by thinking as if you already have what you desire, you’ll attract exactly that back to you.
2. Focusing on the how instead of the end result
Trying to predict or understand how what you desire will come to you takes your energy away from the actual belief that it’s yours – you’ll likely end up worrying and questioning if achieving what you desire is even possible, and this will in turn lower your belief that it can be yours.
Once you’ve decided what you’d like to manifest, the best possible thing you can do is to focus on the feeling of already having what you desire.
Do your best to avoid spending time thinking about how these things might come to you.
If you find yourself slipping back into worrying about the how, remind yourself that miracles happen every day. Why can’t they happen to you?
The Universe is always working for you, and anything you ask for will be given to you. All you have to do is trust that it’s on its way, and believe it’s possible to have anything you desire.
3. Clinging too tightly to what you want
Holding on tight and trying to control if and how you’ll get what you desire keeps you in a lack mindset – you’re emitting energy that’s desperate and needy, rather than energy that’s confident and abundant.
This keeps you in a state of lack, which won’t allow you to manifest the abundance you desire. Again, this goes back to the Law of Attraction – lack attracts lack, whereas abundance attracts abundance.
When it comes to manifestation, one of the best things you can do after deciding what you want is to let go and trust that what you want is headed your way. Focus on what it will be like to have what you desire, and then let go of the rest.
4. Not focusing on the feeling behind what you want
There’s a reason that we want everything that we do, and that’s because of how we think it will make us feel.
For example, if you desire money, it may be because you want to feel the freedom that comes with working a job you love while traveling the world. If you desire new clothes, it may be because of how those clothes make you feel when you wear them.
Behind everything you desire is a why, and an important part of manifestation is focusing on the feelings associated with that why.
Why do you want the things that you do? How will it make you feel to have those things? Focusing on questions such as these will allow you to explore what you want even deeper and allow you to feel positive feelings each time you think, speak, or journal about what you desire.
