Need Some Guidance From The Universe? Try Asking For A Sign.
The Universe is always supporting us and trying to give us help and guidance, but we don’t always pause to receive what we’re being given – we often run through life, checking off our to-do lists and pushing towards what we logically think is the next best step without pausing to see if we’re on the right track or if our actions are bringing us closer to our true desires.
Meanwhile, the Universe is aware of our desires and is trying to help guide us closer to them.
A good way to tune into this guidance is to know your sign from the Universe, then be on the lookout for this sign both when you ask for guidance and when you don’t.
It’s relatively simple to ask for your sign, but the real key is to pay attention to when you’re being shown your sign, as this can help give you clarity and direction when you most need it.
How to ask the Universe for your sign
Step 1: Clear your mind and ask
Start by clearing your mind and focusing on your breath for a few moments. Take a deep breath in, then slowly release. Repeat a few times until you feel your mind and body calm.
Then, in your mind, ask the Universe for your sign. It may look something like, “Dear Universe, could you please tell me my sign?”
Once you ask, continue to focus on your breath. Release any expectations of what your sign “should” be.
Pay attention to the first thing that pops into your mind, and release any doubt or judgement that may accompany this thought.
When I first asked the Universe for my sign, the immediate thought I had was of a frog. I wondered if I had done something wrong since a frog was not what I had imagined my sign from the Universe would be.
In my mind, my sign was supposed to be a beautiful number, a type of dog, or a colored car. But a frog? I contemplated whether I should try the exercise again and ask for a new sign, but something in me told me to just go with it.
Though unexpected, this felt like the right sign for me, and filled me with hope and optimism when I thought about it.
Step 2: Ask for confirmation AND RELEASE EXPECTATIONS
The next step is to ask the Universe to confirm your sign.
Once I learned my sign was a frog, I said to myself “Dear Universe, if a frog is my sign, could you please show me one within the next few days?”
My mind immediately started questioning and doubting how this would happen. At that time, I lived in a city and was surrounded mostly by cars and concrete. Where would I possibly see a frog?
I quickly recognized these thoughts and let them go, remembering that just like with anything in manifestation, the “how” is not up to me.
No more than 10 minutes later, I opened Instagram and the first story I clicked on had a frog. I was shocked, but felt myself fill with excitement as I let the feeling of knowing I had my sign from the Universe sink in.
Since then, I’ve since seen frogs in many different unexpected places: movies, drawings, random texts. They keep popping up all over the place, and I know they’re little gifts from the Universe telling me it has my back and guiding me in the right direction.
How to use your sign
Once you know your sign, you can use it any time you need some guidance from the Universe.
If you’re looking for reassurance that the Universe is right there beside you guiding you on your journey, ask to see your sign.
If you’re unsure about a decision you’re making or need some assistance steering in the right direction, ask to see your sign.
You may even get specific with your question, such as asking to see your sign if you should move across the country or accept a new job.
When you ask to see your sign, make sure to put a timeframe on your request, such as you’d like to see your sign within the next 48 hours or next 2 weeks.
Then, release the when/how/where you’ll see it.
Almost equally as important is to pay attention if you haven’t seen your sign. If you ask for a sign that you’re on the right track, then don’t see your sign, that could be an indication that you might want to change direction.
I love to journal about my requests to see a sign, since that helps me get my request down on paper and then release it. I can look back later to remember things I’ve asked and help understand with better clarity if I’m headed in the right direction.
